Miami County Surgeons is a general surgery group. We specialize in a lot of different types of surgery. As far as the office is concerned, we do skin biopsies, mole removals, lipomas. We'll do sebaceous cyst removal, or drainage if they're infected. We do breast mass biopsies. We do some hemorrhoid procedures, as well. For most part, people have much smaller operations than they used to have back when I began. A recent adaptation that's even better than laparoscopy is robotic surgery where we again use small incisions for it, but with the robot I'm able to do suturing a lot easier than with laparoscopic approaches. In addition to the physicians, we have medical assistants. We have a nurse on staff, and we also have physician's assistants that help us both in the office seeing patients and with our surgeries and seeing patients in the hospital. I feel like I can help people doing surgery because they come into the office. They may be afraid of what they're going to have done. We're there to give them an education and let them know that we're going to go with them on this journey whatever it is, whether it's a gall bladder removal to breast cancer. We understand that no one goes to the doctor's office on their best day, and we understand that, and we try to help them through that. Our staff is great. I think they do a fantastic job. Our staff has a lot of experience. Almost all of them have been there for multiple years, so they're experienced. They can answer most of the simple questions that the patients call in with, and even some of the more difficult questions simply because of the experience that they have.

My philosophy, as far as how I practice, is simple. I just treat every patient as though they were a close friend. I do for them what I'd want done for me. I listen carefully. I use what knowledge I've gained from training to come up with the best solution to the patient's problem as possible. Essentially, I'm a craftsman. I take the knowledge and skills that I have and create the best possible outcome I can for my patients in the situation that they come to me in. My philosophy as a surgeon is to treat every patient like they are a member of my family. We treat them as we would want to be treated, as we would want our own family to be treated. We give very specialized individual care geared towards that patient and in the best interest of that patient. I really like to involve my patients in their own care and that sounds funny, but a lot of times patients feel like things are happening to them. If I can have them understand things, they feel more empowered like they're taking an active role in their care.
